BIPV (Building Integrated Photovoltaic) is a technology that integrates solar power products into buildings as materials or components of buildings. It is designed, constructed and installed at the same time with the building and is perfectly integrated with the building, making it a green building that generates electricity.
BIPV products are used in buildings, and PV modules are laid on the surface or roof of buildings. When the Sun shines on the building, the direct current generated by the PV modules is converted into alternating current by the inverter and then integrated into the grid. Most of the PV power is used by the electrical equipment in the building, and the remaining power is integrated into the grid. When the PV power generation is not enough, the equipment in the building can get the power from the grid.
BIPV integrates power generation, sound insulation, heat insulation, safety, and decoration in one system. It reflects the development direction of modern building technology and embodies advanced architectural concepts that emphasize intelligence and humanization. The integration with building materials not only lowers construction and installation costs but also enhances the overall appearance and artistic charm of buildings.
Installed on building surfaces such as roofs and walls, BIPV systems do not occupy additional ground space, effectively reducing land resource waste. More electricity is generated during summer and daylight hours, helping to alleviate peak electricity demand in industrial and commercial settings. When applied to maintenance structures, they also offer added benefits of energy saving, heat insulation, sound insulation, and safety.
By reducing the emission of carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide, BIPV helps to build a low-carbon, energy-saving, and environmentally friendly power supply system.
